How does the Fitz Card work with insurance plans?

  1. If you have a co-pay insurance plan (such as $20 every time you visit a doctor), the discount card cannot be used to obtain further discounts. If you have this type of medical plan, you may only use the card for services that are not covered under your policy. Many insurance plans exclude chiropractic, alternative or holistic medicine, dermatology or other specialty services.  You may use your discount card to receive discount rates on these excluded services.
  2. If your health insurance plan only covers you, use the discount medical card to reduce your health care expenses for all other family members.
  3. If you have an insurance policy that has a high deductible (such as $1,000), you may be able to use the card to receive reduced rates from the medical provider until you meet your deductible. If you aren't close to meeting the deductible, the doctor's office will generally bill you at the normal rate and ask you to pay the bill in full at the time of service. If, however, you have a discount plan, you simply use the program until you meet the deductible.

Note: Because insurance plans vary, the statements above are meant to be guidelines and examples only. They do not replace the advice of your legal counsel, insurance professional or Human Resources department.
